Leisurely land escapes

Sun worshippers love the beach at Azuri, with its wide vistas onto the sea and refreshing breezes. Shady palms, rocky enclaves and terraced viewpoints provide private and cozy corners for lounging in a hammock or beach chair, on a plush sofa bed or bean bag, or laying on your very own blanket, towel or mat. You may even perch on the point right at the ocean’s head.

Azuri’s main swimming and children’s pools are by the beach and hotel, and there is a 25-meter lap and swimming pool located at the fitness centre, near the spa. Both locations have access to food or snack service, and beverages.

Apartment and duplex neighbourhoods at Azuri have their own community swimming pools on the grounds which are available for homeowner use at any time. *Supervision required.

 

Adventures on ‘terra firma’

The Azuri Recreational Team offers a panoply of fun and challenging experiences to encourage participation by everyone in the family. You may partake in bicycle or trekking tours of the region with visits to places like the Roches Noires caves, a local market and fisherman’s village, or to the bazaar at Flacq. Other activities include water polo matches held in the main pool, a serenity walk in the mangrove ponds next to the lagoon, joining in a game of beach volley, an evening of star-gazing with an expert astronomer, as well as plenty of aerobic sports such as yoga, pilates, stretching, aqua gym and a Saturday morning boot camp breakfast.

An archery field is close by, as well as a pétanque pitch – great for small group sporting. At the fitness centre, you will find cardio machines and free weights, overlooking the outdoor swimming and 25 meter lap pool.

To top it off, society games or Creole lessons are available as well as henna tattooing, carom, Mauritian quizzes and more.

Azuri Tennis Club by Matteo Tennis Association (MTA)

Get fit and have fun at the same time, with the varied tennis programs available from MTA. Matteo Zinno – with 15+ years’ experience in tennis coaching, BEES 3 training, and course certification from Tony Nadal – and his team are ready to help amateur players or aspiring champions develop their tennis abilities, while enjoying playing the game. Club and courts are located behind the main parking lot.

Build up strength, flexibility, and gain a full body stretch with Tennis Fitness; or you may sign up for Tennis School courses whether it be children aged 3-5, older kids, teens, or adults. You can also book hourly sessions to play tennis with friends, or take advantage of prepaid long term court bookings to assure the time and space.

Star players and would-be pros can join the club’s specialised Tennis Academy. Annual memberships provide unlimited or extended hours of play, discounts on lessons, and free access or reduced fees for guests.

Kids will love the option of booking a court to celebrate their birthday with friends –
to play together, or enjoy private lessons with a coach. Options include use for 1 hour to half-day.

Azuri is for Kids

Why not let the younger set have the day to themselves at the Kid’s Club, located inside the hotel premises. Every day is a new delight with fun and educative activities held at the club or around the resort. Children will adore recreational fun like shirt painting, mask making, swimming relays, rope climbing, play-acting and more. The club is equipped with toys and games for all ages, a TV room, resting area and toilets.

Kid’s Corner Playground

For morning and afternoon strolls, the Kid’s Playground is ideal for stopping and allowing the little ones to play and run in the garden or amuse themselves on the swings and climbing bars. *Supervision required

Wellbeing is one of the main pursuits at Azuri and The Spa combines an elegant blend of tranquillity and revitalisation in this quest.

Upon entering this peaceful refuge you are greeted by a big, solid rock, symbol of stability and strength. The scent of combava fruit, the gentle murmur of soft music and natural lighting create soothing touches for the senses.

There are 6 treatment rooms (4 double and 2 single) with a full menu of massage, reflexology, and personal care and health therapies to ensure renewal of mind, body and spirit.

The pampering doesn’t end here, as The Spa houses sauna and hammam chambers as well as a beauty salon, where hairdressing, manicures and pedicures are performed.
